Sama’an Ashrawi is a Palestinian-American author, filmmaker, songwriter, and music producer whose work has featured Megan Thee Stallion, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Broad City's Abbi Jacobson & Ilana Glazer, the Beastie Boys’ Adam Horovitz, A$AP Rocky, Thundercat, Little Simz, and dozens more. In 2020, he served as guest editor for Palestine in America magazine’s music issue; his cover story on New York City hardcore punk legend Geeby Dajani became a viral twitter thread. He is also the author of the 2022 viral thread about his grandfather’s relationship with legendary Broadway composer John Kander. In 2023 he inadvertently started a beef between Drake and Mos Def. It’s a long story. In 2024, he co-wrote "Maktub," the lead single from four-time Grammy winner Gary Clark Jr.'s fourth studio album, JPEG RAW. In 2025, the news of the signing of his first feature film script with Route 243 studios was announced at the Cannes Film Festival. His debut book is Baba Was A Rolling Stone, released via London-based Rough Trade Books.
