is a pivotal figure in Peruvian contemporary dance. A dancer, choreographer, performer, teacher and writer, she has made the body a site of exploration, creation and thought, weaving together movement, literature and gender through an irreverent, feminist and critical lens. Since 1978, she has directed the Contemporary Dance Department at Danza Viva Perú, a training and creative hub that has nurtured several generations of artists. Her training in the United States includes an MFA from Sarah Lawrence College (New York) and a BFA from Western Michigan University. In 2016, she was honoured by the Peruvian government as a Cultural Figure of Merit. Her work also spans fiction, essays and poetry, establishing a unique voice within the Peruvian performing arts.
