Bassim al-Ansar was born in Baghdad, Iraq in 1970. He holds a BA in business from Al-Mustansiriya University in Baghdad. He has been publishing his poetry since the early 1990s and in 1997 published a play in verse called
The Man of the Willows. In 2007 he published his first book of poetry under the title
The Hymns of the Son of Adam. Al-Ansar has lived in Denmark since 1998.
