Martin AMIS

(Swansea, United Kingdom, 1949) Martin Amis studied at Oxford University. He won the 1973 Somerset Maugham Award for his first book, The Rachel Papers. He has contributed to publications such as The Times Literary Supplement, New Statesman and The Observer and has taught creative writing at Manchester University. His works have been translated into many different languages and are known all over the world. One of the most outstanding writers of his generation, his most recent published works are, in fiction, The Pregnant Widow and in non-fiction, The Second Plane. 11 September: 2001-2007. The novel Lionel Asbo is due to be published in the UK later in 2011.
