Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, in 1953, Posadas moved to Madrid with her family in 1965 and later lived in Moscow, Buenos Aires and London, cities where her father served as a diplomat. She is the author of numerous children’s books, a dozen novels, two biographies and several screenplays. In 1998, she was awarded the Planeta Prize for Pequeñas infamias (Little Indiscretions), and her work has been translated into more than 30 languages. In 2003, Newsweek named her one of the most prominent authors of her generation.
Some of her most notable works include Cinco moscas azules (Five Blue Flies, 1996); La bella Otero (The Beautiful Otero, 2001); Invitación a un asesinato (Invitation to a Murder, 2010); La leyenda de la Peregrina (The Legend of the Peregrina, 2020); and El misterioso caso del impostor del Titanic (The Mysterious Case of the Titanic Impostor, 2024).
