(Mexico City, 1962) Writer, historian and literary critic, he has written for various prestigious magazines and newspapers, including Proceso, Vuelta, Letras Libres and the El Ángel cultural supplement of the newspaper Reforma. Considered one of the most important Hispanic literary critics today, he is the author of books such as Vida de Fray Servando (winner of the Xavier Villaurrutia Prize, 2004), La sabiduría sin promesa. Vidas y letras del siglo XX (winner of the Santiago Arts Critics Circle Award, 2009) and his most recent work, Critical Dictionary of Mexican Literature (1955-2005) (2012).
