(Barranquilla, 1954) The economist and historian Adolfo Meisel, co-director of the Banco de la Republica until June 2018, and rector of the Universidad del Norte de Barranquilla, was born in Barranquilla but grew up in Cartagena. Meisel is Ph.D. in Economics and has studied closely the causes of Colombia’s regional inequalities, a matter that for him is related, among other things, to the territorial dynamics of public spending in the last century.
