(Philippines, 1943) He has lived in Madrid since 1954. With an early vocation for painting, some of his works were selected for International Art Fairs such as the Paris Biennale (1964), the Sao Paulo Biennale (1967), etc. He has released more than twenty albums during his long career, having composed more than three hundred songs. He won the Spanish National Album Prize in 1983 for his double album
Entre amigos and won the 2001 Luigi Tenco Prize in Italy in recognition of his career. Since 1970 he has been composing soundtracks for films. He has published four poetry books, including
Volver al agua (Sial, 2003) and a number of book-albums such as
No hay quinto AniMaLho (Siruela 2010). In 2012 he released his new album
El niño que miraba al mar, as well as a short film animated by him and a book based on the film, both with the title
El niño y el basilisco.
