Novelist and filmmaker. His novels have been published around the world, and some of the best known are Grey Souls, Monsieur Linh and His Child, Brodeck’s Report and The Investigator. He has directed four feature films, including I’ve Loved You So Long, starring Kristin Scott Thomas, which won a BAFTA for Best Foreign Film and two Cesar Awards and received two Golden Globe nominations. His latest novels are Inhumaines (2017) and El archipiélago del perro (2018).
