(Colombia) This writer and editor has taught at the Universidad de los Andes, the Universidad Javeriana and the Universidad Nacional, has acted as cultural attaché at the Colombian Embassy in Madrid. For ten years he worked as editorial director of Alfaguara in Colombia and later for Panamericana Editorial. He is co-founder and co-director of the Gabriel García Márquez Project at Colorado University, Denver. He has published a number of books, including: Novelas del dictador, dictadores de novela (1978), Puerta abierta a García Márquez y otras puertas (1982), El tren y sus gentes: los ferrocarriles en Colombia (1995), together with Belisario Betancur, and Gabriel García Márquez. El vicio incurable de contar (2005). He is currently preparing a book about the use of language in the Colombian Nobel-winner’s work, entitled El cómo de las palabras.
