Sophie ALEXANDER-KATZ

(Mexico, 1978) Alexander-Katz did her degree in theatre studies at London’s Central School of Speech and Drama and she later studied at the Casa del Teatro in Mexico. She has taken part in many different plays on the French and British stage and worked for the BBC playing the role of Frida Kahlo. In Mexico she has participated in plays such as Mujeres soñaron caballos, Satélite 2012, La modestia and El parking place del deseo, a work that won the National Young Dramatist’s Prize. As regards film, she has contributed to a number of short films, for example Si maneja de noche procure ir acompañado (which won an award at the Guadalajara Festival) and Café Paraíso (winner of the IMCINE Competition, the Guadalajara Festival award and the Ariel Prize). She was taken part in the television series XY and the soap operas Amor en custodia and Montecristo. She is a member of the El regreso de Ulíses theatre company, and the Cinema Fantástico production company. In 2010 she joined the cast of the soap opera Para volver amar.
