Eric DROOKER

(New York, Unites States, 1958) Graphic artist and illustrator; the movements and artists that have influenced him include social realism between the world wars (specifically John Sloan of the Ashcan School), US counterculture (R. Crumb), Francisco Goya, Diego Rivera and the German Expressionism of Otto Dix and George Grosz. He is the author of three graphic novels Flood! A Novel in Pictures (1992), for which he won the American Book Award; Blood Song: A Silent Ballad (2002) and Howl: A Graphic Novel (2010), a project that he worked on with Allen Ginsberg. He has also worked with the famous poet on other occasions, such as for the animation of the film of the same name (Howl), starring James Franco. He contributes regularly to The New Yorker.
