(Bolivia, 1967) Edmundo Paz teaches Latin American literature at Cornell University. He is the author of fifteeen novels, including Norte (2011), Área protegida (2024) and his forthcoming book, Rayo (2027); as well as seven short story collections, among them Las visiones (2016), La vía del futuro (2021) and El comienzo del paraíso (2025). He has co-edited the books Se habla español (2000) and Bolaño salvaje (2008). His works have been translated into thirteen languages and have won the author a range of prizes, including the Juan Rulfo Award for short stories (1997) and the Bolivian National Novel prize (2002). In 2006 he received a Guggenheim Fellowship.
