(Lima, Peru 1979) Sergio Vilela is a journalist and author known for El Cadete Vargas Llosa, a biography which describes Mario Vargas Llosa’s experience in Leoncio Prado’s Military Academy. After graduating in journalism at Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas, Vilela wrote for publications such as El Malpensante (Colombia) and El Dominical (Peru). In 2003 he won a Scholarship from the Nuevo Periodismo Iberoamericano Foundation, which allowed him to attend a workshop organised by Alma Guillermoprieto in Cartagena, Colombia. Vilela worked as a producer for N de Lima TV channel and is currently sub-editor of Etiqueta Negra, a Peruvian journalism magazine for which he has written on a variety of themes.
