Óscar MARTÍNEZ

Óscar Martínez (San Salvador, El Salvador, 1983) is the Head Writer at Elfaro.net and the author of the books Los migrantes que no importan (2010), La bestia (2013) and Una historia de violencia (2016). He is also the co-author of the books of literary journalism Jonathan no tiene tatuajes (2010) and Crónicas negras. Desde una región que no cuenta (2013). With Anagrama he has published Los muertos y el periodista (2021), El niño de Hollywood together with Juan José Martínez (republished in 2024 for the Compactos collection) and Bukele. El rey desnudo, in the Nuevos Cuadernos Anagrama collection (2025). He has received numerous awards, including: in 2008, the Fernando Benítez National Prize for Cultural Journalism in Mexico; in 2009 the National Human Rights Prize from the José Simeón Cañas University in El Salvador; in 2016 the Maria Moors Cabot Prize from Columbia University; the International Press Freedom Prize, awarded by the Committee to Protect Journalists; and in 2018 the Hillman Prize.
