(Starnberg, Germany, 1961) Karl von Habsburg, LLM, is currently chairman of the Blue Shield Federation, the ‘Red Cross’ for threatened cultural heritage during armed conflicts. His work brought him recently to Syria and Mali, Egypt and Libya. Apart from his law studies at Salzburg University, Karl von Habsburg followed a military career, first for 16 years as pilot in the Austrian Air Force, and currently as Cultural Property Protection Officer. Between 1995 and 1999 he served as a member of the European Parliament.
