Esteban Carlos MEJÍA

(Colombia) Novelist and newspaper columnist, as well as former publicist, television presenter and ghost writer. With the television programme Especiales del Arte, which he directed and presented, he won a 1991 Simón Bolívar Prize for Television in the Cultural Research category. His short story “Cuestión de escrúpulos” (1979) was made into a play, along with texts by other authors, by the Matacandelas Theatre Group between 1982 and 1988. Mentirás al prójimo como a ti mismo (2001), his debut novel, won the University of Antioquia National Novel Award in 2000. I love you putamente (2007) and Esos besos que te doy (2016) are the first and second novels of his Espaldas a Medellín trilogy; he is currently working on the third part of the saga, Los abismos de tu sexo. He writes the Rabo de Paja column for El Espectador, makes a cultural programme for radio (La punta del iceberg, Cámara 89.9, Medellin) and organizes a literary gathering (Mesita de noche, EAFIT University, Medellin).
