Yoani SÁNCHEZ

(Havana, 1975) Yoani María Sánchez Cordero is a Cuban linguist and journalist and author of the blog Generación Y, which is a critical description of his country’s reality. The blog and his own website have been awarded several prizes and accolades: the Spanish newspaper El País awarded him the 2008 Ortega y Gasset Prize for Digital Journalism; that same year the magazine Time chose him as one of the 100 most influential people in the world and he won Deutsche Welle’s BOB Prize; Generación Y was chosen by Time and the US channel CNN as one of the best twenty-five blogs of 2009; Yoani Sánchez is also the first blogger to win a María Moors Cabot Prize, awarded to him in 2009. She is the founder of the journal 14ymedio which was created in 2014 and which she runs from Cuba.
