Abraham CRUZVILLEGAS

cruzvillegas-abraham (Mexico, 1968) Abraham Cruzvillegas is an artist and founder of La Galería de Comercio. Over the past few years, his work in video, sculpture, installation, performance and publication has explored strategies of self-reliance and a spirit of cooperation. He has had solo exhibitions at Walker Art Center (Minneapolis, 2013), Tate Modern (London, 2012), Modern Art Oxford (Oxford, 2011), CCA Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts (San Francisco, 2009) and many others. His work has been featured in group exhibitions at the New Museum (New York, 2011), and the Museum of Contemporary Art (Chicago, 2005). His film Autoconstrucción has been screened at the New Museum, New York and REDCAT (Los Angeles, 2009). He has participated in international exhibitions such as Kassel dOCUMENTA (2012), the 12th Istanbul Biennial (2011) and the 50th Venice Biennale (2003). He is a member of The International Taoist Tai Chi Society, was a member of Gabriel Orozco's workshop from 1987 to 1991 and has participated in the artist-run project Temístocles 44.
