(Spain, 1934) A writer, journalist, essayist and literary critic, José de la Colina is the son of Spanish exiles who settled in Mexico, where he has been living since he was six. He has published collections of stories such as
Ven, caballo gris, Muertes ejemplares and
Portarrelatos; and non-fiction books such as
El cine italiano and
De libertades fantasmas o de la literatura como juego, for which he received the Xavier Villaurrutia Writers for Writers prize for work published in 2013. De la Colina received a homage in 2009 to celebrate his 75th birthday, at INBA and in 2013 was recognised as a Major Figure in Mexican Literature at the Palacio de Bellas Artes.
