Salman RUSHDIE

(India, 1947) Born in Bombay, this British writer and essayist is the author of the renowned novels Midnight´s Children and The Satanic Verses. His style has been compared to Latin American Magic Realism and most of his fictional works are set on the Indian subcontinent. He has won numerous awards, including the Booker Prize, the Hans Christian Andersen Prize (2013) and the European Literature Prize, given by the Austrian state (1992). He was named a Knight of the Order of the British Empire in 2007 and is a member of the Royal Society of Literature. He released two books in 2017: The Golden House and Home: Vintage Minis. His most recent book is Quichotte (2020).
