Salman RUSHDIE

(India, 1947) Born in Bombay, this British-American writer and essayist is the author of the renowned novels Midnight´s Children and The Satanic Verses. Many of his fictional works are set on the Indian subcontinent. He has won numerous awards, including the Booker Prize (1981), the Hans Christian Andersen Prize (2013) and Peace Prize of the German Book Trade (2023). He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2007. He is a past president of PEN America. His most recent books are the novel Victory City (2023) and the memoir Knife (2024).
