(Bogota, 1971) Writer and professor. She graduated with a degree in literature from the University of the Andes, before going on to complete a Masters and then Doctorate in Latin American literature and cinema at the University of Tulane in New Orleans. She has published the novels La cuidad sitiada and Acaso la muerte; the short story collections Variaciones sobre un tema inasible and Sin remitente; the biographical novel Manuelita SáenzLa dama de la libertad; as well as numerous essays on literature and culture and the non-fiction books  Bogotá imaginada: narraciones urbanas, cultura y política, Nación y melancolía, and Disidencias: trece ensayos para una arqueología del conocimiento en la literatura latinoamericana del siglo XX. Her third novel is Mandala, a digital writing project which has been constructed to be read in multiple ways. In addition, her first novel for young adults will be published by Alfaguara next year. She is currently a professor at the National University of Colombia, where she teaches in the Department of Literature, and on the Creative Writing and Cultural Studies Masters courses.
