Henry MARSH

(Oxford, 1950) Neurosurgeon. He studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics at the University of Oxford, before studying Medicine at the Royal Free Hospital in London. He became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1984 and from 1987 to 2015 was a brain surgery specialist at the Atkinson Morley Wing of St. George’s Hospital, London. He has been the focus of two documentaries: Your Life in Their Hands, winner of a Royal Television Society Gold Medal, and The English Surgeon, which won an Emmy. He has worked with colleagues in Ukraine over 30 years and pioneered neurosurgical advances there. He has written Do No Harm: Stories of Life, Death and Brain Surgery, chosen as best book of the year by the Financial Times and The Economist, and most recently And Finally: Matters of Life and Death.
