Screenwriter, director and documentary filmmaker, he has written and directed El buen patrón (2021), winner of 6 Goyas from the Spanish Film Academy, including Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay, the Mexican Film Academy's Ariel for Best Ibero-American Film and the EFA Award for Best Comedy at the European Film Academy Awards. He is the author of Sintiéndolo mucho (2022), a documentary film about Joaquín Sabina. He has also written and directed the feature films Los lunes al sol (2002), Barrio (1998), Familia (1996), Princesas (2006) and A perfect day (2015), among others. He is the author of the documentaries Caminantes (2001), Buenas noches, Ouma (Invisibles, 2007) and Política, manual de instrucciones (2016), among others. In the literary field, he has published Contra la hipermetropía (Debate, 2010) and Aquí yacen dragones (Seix Barral, 2013). Also a cartoonist and illustrator, in 2004 he founded his own production company, Reposado.
