(Lima, 1949) Short story writer, novelist, playwright and journalist. He studied at the PUCP in Lima. He has worked as assistant editor at the magazine Caretas, editor of the magazines Jaque and Somos, general manager of Canal N, director of the TV programmes Documento and Uno más uno, and editor of El Comercio’s Investigative Department and cultural supplement El Dominical. His literary work includes the novels Caramelo verde (1992), Puta linda (2006), Hasta que me orinen los perros (2008) and El peruano imperfecto (2011), as well as the short story collections Malos modales (1994), Bicho raro (1996), Mujeres difíciles, hombres benditos (2005) and the short story collection Cuentos (2013), the non-fiction Gato encerrado (1987) and El enano, historia de una enemistad (2001), and the poetry books Voces de luna llena (1998) and 40 poemas (2010). In 2014 he published the novel Loreto and the non-fiction volume Tambores invisibles and also released the tragicomedy Un fraude epistolar; in 2015 his novel Sucedió entre dos párpados was released. His latest books are the 2018 novel La bruja de Lima and the short story collection Lobos solitarios y otros cuentos (2018).
