Alonso RUIZ ROSAS

(Arequipa, 1959) Poet and cultural manager, he has also worked as a journalist for various press publications. His bibliography includes the poetry books Caja negra (1986), Sacrificio (1989), La conquista del Peru (1991), Museo (1999), La enfermedad de Venus (Copé Prize at the 1999 Poetry Biennial) and Estudio sobre la belleza (2010). He was part of the editorial team at Omnibus magazine and, later, Macho Cabrío. In 1990 he founded and managed the Cultural Centre at the Universidad Nacional de San Agustín. He has worked as head of the Arequipa Old Town Municipal Management Team, cultural policy consultant for the Ministry of Foreign Relations and cultural attache for Peru in France. He is also the author of a documented study about Arequipan cuisine (La gran cocina mestiza de Arequipa, 2012). He currently directs the Ministry of Foreign Relations’ Inca Garcilaso Cultural Centre. Espíritupampa (2015) is his latest poetry book.
