Luis ALEGRE SAZ

(Lechago, Teruel, 1962) Journalist, cultural activist, writer, filmmaker and lecturer at the University of Zaragoza. Since the 1980s he has worked with different media: in 2015, with El País, Marca, la Cadena Ser, Heraldo de Aragón and Aragón TV. He has published a range of books on film as well as essays on The Apartment and Belle Époque. In 2014, he released Cerca de casa, an anthology of articles. In 2003 he edited and coordinated Diálogos de Salamina: un diálogo alrededor del cine y la literatura. He runs the Tudela Film Festival and that city’s Muestra de Cine event, and also collaborates on other festivals and cultural events. Together with David Trueba, he co-directed La silla de Fernando (2006), a film-conversation with Fernando Fernán-Gómez that was nominated for Best Documentary at the Goya Awards and the Círculo de Escritores Cinematográficos’ Medals. In 2016 he presented his doctoral thesis on the Spanish public’s relationship with film. Among other accolades, he has received the Aragon Press Association’s Special Award.
