María DE ALVA

Born in Monterrey, Nuevo León, in 1969. She is the author of two novels: A través de la ventana (Planeta, 2005), which was shortlisted for the 9th Fernando Lara Novel Prize in Spain in 2004, and Antes del olvido (Conarte, 2011), which was shortlisted for the same prize, but in 2009. She graduated in Spanish Literature from ITESM (1990), where she also took a doctorate in literature in 2012. She also has two Master’s, one in Latin American Studies, specializing in Literature and History, from UCLA (1993) and another from ITESM, in Education specializing in Humanities (2000). Between 1993 and 1995 she worked as a reporter for the newspapers Reforma and El Norte. Since 1996 she has worked at the Tecnológico de Monterrey institution, where she currently coordinates the Hispanic Literature degree.
