(Los Angeles, 1953) was born from the relationship between the jazz legend Artie Shaw and the Hollywood star Doris Dowling. During his teenage years, he met Charles Bukowski, became addicted to heroin and entered into a spiral of youth crime. Aged 19 he travelled in Central and South America, where he lived for several years. In 2008 he published his first novel, Narcisa, which soon became a cult book with fans including Johnny Depp, Iggy Pop and Jim Jarmusch.
