Peter Frankopan is Professor of Global History, where he is also Stavros Niarchos Foundation Director of the Oxford Centre for Byzantine Research. His book The Silk Roads: A New History of the World was named one of the Books of the Decade by the Sunday Times. It was also voted one of the 25 most important books translated into Chinese. His latest book, The New Silk Roads: The Present and Future of the World, looks at the changing world of the 21st century. In 2019, Prospect Magazine chose Peter as one of the World's 50 Top Thinkers.
