(Pamplona, Colombia) Writer and educator. He received the Eduardo Cote Lamus National Poetry Prize in 2011 for El Dios de Johannes de Silentio, the Comfamiliar del Atlántico National Children’s Story Prize with Una isla llamada Luna in 2009 and that same year was shortlisted for the Barco de Vapor Competition with Cantos u’wa en el corazón de Isabel. In 2000 and 2001 he won the Norte de Santander Novel Prize with Donde los ángeles anidan and En una plaza vacía. His poetry book Deseos y encuentros obtained second place in the University of Quindío National University Poetry Prize in 1988. He currently lives in Cúcuta, where he runs the RELATA National Creative Writing Network.
