Horacio Benavides (Bolívar, Cauca, Colombia. 1949) studied fine arts at the Instituto Departamental de Bellas Artes, Cali. He has published, among other books: Orígenes, Las cosas perdidas, Agua de la orilla, Sombra de agua, La aldea desvelada, Sin razón florecer, Conversación a oscuras, por sombra la luz (anthology). His book La serena hierba received in 2013 the Premio Nacional de Poesía award from the Colombian Ministry of Culture.
