(Colombia) General Manager and co-founder of the Foundation for New Ibero-American Journalism (FNPI). His professional life has consisted largely of work in the media, particularly television, film and journalism. Between 1990 and 1995, before entering the FNPI, he worked as the Managing Director of Telecaribe. He has sat on the boards of various civil society organizations in his country and abroad, and has participated with organizations that advise the Colombian government. He is a founding member of the Foundation for Press Freedom and the Antonio Nariño Project for the promotion and defence of freedom of expression and the right to information in Colombia. Since 2006 he has represented Latin America on the board of the Global Forum for Media Development. He has also contributed to organizations such as the Davos World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Informed Societies, in 2010 and 2011.
