Sheila ALVARADO

(Lima, 1979) Artist, illustrator and writer. Winner of the silver medal in printmaking at the National Art School. She has had five solo exhibitions, has won around a dozen prizes and has participated in over fifty group shows. In 2016 she was nominated for an Eisner Award, considered to be the Oscars of illustration, for the best adaptation of another medium, for the graphic novel City Of Clowns. One of her designs was chosen as a campaign image by Converse in Peru for International Labour Day. In 2017 she is to be included in the tenth Colores latinos: Las mejores ilustraciones latinoamericanas 2016, published by the University of Palermo/ Argentina. Soon to be published is a bilingual edition of her El vals de las cometas, a poetry book inspired by the city of Lima and winner at the ICPNA 5th Children’s Poetry Biennial award.
