(Lima, 1949) He studied Literature and Fine Art at the Pontificia Universidad Católica, and History of Art at the Universidad Nacional de San Marcos. He has been publishing his comic strips in a range of newspapers and magazines since 1969. His most popular comics include El Cuy, Paco Yunque, Túpac Amaru, Pobre diablo, Luchín González, La Araña No, Love Story, Kuraka... His book Para hacer historietas has been the basis of hundreds of workshops in countries in Latin America as well as Spain, Germany and the United States. In 1997, the University of Alcalá de Henares appointed him Honorary Lecturer in Humour. He currently runs the Para Hacer Historietas laboratory with other teachers at the Casa de la Literatura, and publishes the El Cuy comic strip in El Comercio newspaper.
