(Lima, 1982) Ruiz Velazco is a poet, fiction writer and publisher. His early poetry has been collected in Barlovento [2001-2011]. In 2012 he won the José Watanabe Varas Poetry Prize for his poetry book Fantasmas esenciales. In 2013 he published his first short stories, under the title La felicidad es un arma caliente. He has contributed articles and literary journalism to various media outlets, including Peru’s El Comercio and La República. In 2015 he published El fin de la poesía, a book that won first prize at the Festival de la Lira in Cuenca-Ecuador. In 2015 he edited and wrote the introduction to El fin de algo. Antología del nuevo cuento peruano 2001-2015. He is the founding director of the Lustra Editores and Santuario Editorial publishers. He also currently works as an editor at Planeta in Peru. He has recently edited the book Héroes y heroínas de la peruanidad (2021).
