Zoila VEGA SALVATIERRA

Zoila Vega Salvatierra (Arequipa, 1973) is a musician and musicologist by profession. She has published several books and articles on southern Peruvian music from the 18th to the 20th centuries, such as Texto y contexto de la obra de Roberto Carpio en la Arequipa del siglo XX (UNSA 2001); Vida musical cotidiana en Arequipa durante el Oncenio de Leguía (ANR-2006); Música en la Catedral de Arequipa, 1609-1881 (UCSP- 2011); and De la tristeza a la identidad. El yaraví peruano en las fuentes escritas de los siglos XVII, XIX y XX (UNSA 2025) as well as several novels including Cápac Cocha (BCR- 2006), Acuarelas (La Travesía - 2013), Las Saucedo (UNSA - 2015), El molle y el sauce (ARSAM- 2017) and Cantan al Hablar (Seix Barral - 2025). She is currently a researcher and lecturer at the Universidad Nacional San Agustín’s School of Arts and a lecturer at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.
