Enrique Redel was born in Madrid (Spain) in 1971 and studied Law. He worked with different literary and editorial agencies as a reader and advisor. Since 1999 he has been a full-time editor. After passing through various independent publishing companies as a junior editor, in 2004 he founded Funambulista, which he left in 2007 to found, together with the writer Pilar Adón, the publishing house Impedimenta, devoted to fiction, modern classics, quality contemporary fiction, and illustrated literature. Its portfolio includes authors such as Mircea Cartarescu, Georgi Gospodinov, Maryse Condé, Dubravka Ugresic, Penelope Fitzgerald, Tatiana Tibuleac, Jon Bilbao, Stanislaw Lem and Natsume Soseki. In 2008, their project was honoured with the National Award for Best Cultural Publishing Project. He currently lives and works in Madrid.
