(Mexico, 1964) She holds a bachelor's degree in English from Tecnológico de Monterrey and a master's degree in Public Administration from Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL). From 1982 to 1994 she taught English, Mexican History and Socioeconomic Studies at different schools. Between 1989 and 1997 she held various positions in the public administration in San Pedro Garza Garcia, Nuevo Leon. From 1997 to 2001, she was coordinator of Higher Secondary Education and Social Service in the Nuevo Leon Secretariat of Education. From 1991 to 2005, Clouthier Carrillo was part of the PAN. When she resigned from the PAN, she launched herself as an independent legislator. In 2009 she founded Evolución Mexicana, which promotes civic responsibility and democracy. She is the author of the books Crónica de un fraude anunciado (1992), co-published with Jesús Cantú and Cuauhtémoc Rivera; Curul 206, una visión del Congreso (2006), Maquío, mi padre (2007), and Parejas-Parejas (2017), along with Valeria Guerra. In 2017 she joined the project of the pre-candidate to the presidency, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, for Mexico’s 2018 federal elections. She is currently federal deputy for Morena in the 34th legislature of the Congress of the Union of Mexico for the period 2018-2021.
