Mr. Jean-Michel Blanquer was appointed Minister of National Education and Youth in France by the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron in May 2017. He is a Doctor of Law from the Paris II University, has a master's degree in Philosophy and with a diploma in advanced studies in public law and political studies from the Paris Institute of Political Studies (“Sciences po”). Throughout his professional career, Minister Blanquer has held positions such as professor of public law at IEP-Lille and the Paris III University, researcher at the French Institute of Andean Studies and at the National University in Bogotá between 1989- 1991. Minister Blanquer is also the author of works and articles on Education, in particular the School of Life, the first volume of a trilogy also composed of the School of Trust and the School of Tomorrow. His last book is “Open School” (École ouverte), edited by Gallimard, 2021. He has also written about Latin America, especially about Colombia, the country in which he has lived. Among the most outstanding works about the country are: La Colombie à l'aube du troisième millénaire and La Colombie: «Que sais-je? »
