He was born in Lima in 1963. He studied linguistics at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and theatre at the Catholic University Theatre. He also studied theatre at the Sorbonne in Paris. He has written the plays AM/FM (1985), Números reales (Real Numbers, 1991), El juicio final (The Final Judgement, 1997) and Camasca (2019), the winner of the British Theatre Award Ponemos tu obra en escena (We Put Your Work On Stage) and the feature film Both (2005). His first novel, El Espía del Inca (The Inca's Spy, 2018), has received excellent reviews nationally and internationally, and his second novel, El camarada Jorge y el Dragón, (Comrade Jorge And The Dragon) won the National Prize for Literature of Peru in 2024. In 1925, he published Incas, espías y astronautas (Incas, Spies, And Astronauts), a collection of essays and non-fiction prose.
