Vanessa ROSALES

rosales-vanessa A Cartagena writer, author of the book Mujeres Vestidas, historian and journalist. Her work investigates the history and theory of fashion from a feminist perspective. She has a podcast called Mujer Vestida, in which she analyses the subjects of aesthetics and dress through the prism of Fashion Studies, a discipline that employs social science techniques and feminist theories. She did a Master’s in this subjects at Parsons, The New School for Design in New York. She has written for El Espectador, Arcadia, BBC Mundo, CNN Style, Vice Colombia, VESTOJ: The Platform for Critical Thinking of Fashion, Americas Quarterly, The Daily Beast, VOGUE Latinoamérica, Diners, Cromos, Semana and The Business of Fashion. She has worked together with the Julie Foundation for Cartagena girls, the PLAN Foundation and the Swedish Institute. She currently manages the Fashion, Identity and Equality Department of Cartagena’s AfriCaribeFest, in Cartagena. She has lectured in New York, Tijuana and a number of cities in Colombia and she gives courses and seminars on her specialist subjects. Her work is a hybrid that combines writing, theory, journalism and digital media. Her second book is Mujer incómoda (2021).
