Joanna is about to graduate from university with her whole life ahead of her when she decides to finally face up to a calling she’s had all her life to become a nun. Entering an enclosed Benedictine order, she encounters far greater problems and difficult characters than in the outside world. However, the profound unfolding of her own character and the relationships she makes completely change things. A stellar cast includes Brenda Blethyn, Susannah York, and Rita Tushingham.
