Juan Gabriel Vásquez and Manuel Vilas in conversation with Jesús Ruiz Mantilla

Autofictions.

Arequipa 2018,

Juan Gabriel Vásquez is one of Colombia’s most international writers. He won the 2011 Alfaguara Prize and the 2014 International Dublin Literary Award for his novel The Sound of Things Falling (2011). His latest novel, The Shape of the Ruins, is an incursion into autofiction, in a historical novel featuring a writer character called Juan Gabriel Vásquez. The Spanish author Manuel Vilas has just published Ordesa, one of the books of the year in Spain, which makes reference to the genre of autofiction and is a fragmentary reconstruction of the memories and history of his parents, after the death of both. They will talk to the writer and journalist Jesús Ruiz Mantilla.
