Francisco Hinojosa (Mexico) is a prolific author of over 30 books of non-fiction, fiction, poetry, journalism and children’s and young adult literature. His most recent books are Profesores, tiranos y otros pinches chamacos. Cuentos reunidos, and Inchi Farofe (2019), of which he will speak today, that tells the story of Óliver, a child that likes to use words that he has invented in order to express himself. The work he uses most is “inchi”, and he uses it so much that one day he invents another with the same meaning: “farofe”. Although Óliver uses “inchi” and “farofe” whenever he wants, and nobody is sure how to define these terms, little by little, the people around him start to use them too, until finally they end up in the dictionary. Francisco Hinojosa talks to Gina Jaramillo about this book of invented words.
