Professor of History and Art History at Columbia University, Simon Schama is a celebrated historian who combines academic rigour with a more personal approach to historic analysis. After lecturing at the universities of Cambridge, Oxford and Harvard, he moved to New York; since 1995, he has been writing about art for The New Yorker
and has directed with success several programmes on art and history for the BBC.
