Carlos Granés in conversation with Juan Gabriel Vásquez

Cartagena 2022,

Carlos Granés (Bogotá) is an essayist and PhD in Social Anthropology from the Complutense University of Madrid. Delirio americano: Una historia cultural y política de América Latina (2021) is his new work and he will talk about it with Juan Gabriel Vásquez. Following a timeline from the death of José Martí to the death of Fidel Castro, the book analyses the many cultural, political and ideological currents that have contributed to the invention of modern Latin America, from modernism and the Americanist avant-garde to political and cultural guerrillas, to end up examining the most immediate present and the unexpected way in which the politics and culture of Latin America has ended up influencing the whole world.
