The Nigerian writer Wole Soyinka was the first African writer to win the Nobel Prize for Literature (1986). He is a storyteller, poet and political activist, the author of a varied body of work encompassing more than 30 plays, five autobiographical books, more than a dozen books of poetry, novels and short stories, and at least 14 books of essays. His most recent book, Chronicles from the Land of the Happiest People on Earth (2021), is a brilliant analysis of the human condition, portraying the spheres of power that run the world as well as the corruption and perversion that run through them. Dr. Menka teams up with his childhood friend, a prestigious engineer and member of the Yoruba royalty who aspires to a position at the United Nations, to solve a chilling mystery: who is smuggling the body parts of sick people into the clinic he runs, in order to carry out obscure ritual practices?
