The Business of Climate Change

Hay Festival 2025,
Lord Browne of Madingley is co-founder and chairman of BeyondNetZero, General Atlantic’s climate growth equity fund. With more than 50 years of experience spanning energy, technology and climate investing, he was nicknamed the 'sun king' while head of BP 1995-2007, when he created a renewable and alternative energy business, Beyond Petroleum, to address climate change. He is independent co-chairman of the Prime Minister’s Council on Science and Technology, chairman of the Francis Crick Institute and Courtauld Institute of Art, and a trustee of the Royal Opera House. In this wide-ranging conversation, Lord Browne discusses the climate crisis, AI, and freedom of speech with David Sheppard of the Financial Times.
