Award-winning folk singer and song-collector Sam Lee brings his unique acoustic sound to Hay. His debut album Ground Of Its Own was nominated for the 2012 Mercury Prize and won Roots Album of the Year in the same year. Widely recognised as pioneering, Lee’s work redefines contemporary folksong using homemade and mongrelised instrumentation with unconventional and contemporary arrangements that challenge perceptions of what ‘traditional folk’ should sound like.
